mosquito netting into canopies to go over the beds. Some historians
state that the original hotel had 70 rooms, and others say there were
75, but in later years (1890) when purchased by Henry Flagler it was
greatly enlarged to accommodate more than 600 guests.

       Original “The Ormond” Hotel Overlaid on Expanded Layout
The opening of “The Ormond” hotel on January 1, 1888, was one of
the most memorable days in the history of Ormond, and for over a
century the hotel was the social center of the town. Until demolished
in 1992, its huge, wooden facade with its many windows, long
