tournament ended in a fancy dress ball at the Hotel Ormond, and the
crowning of the "Queen."
John Anderson also introduced the bugle call to summon guests to
meals at the hotel, and later on, William Fagan, John Anderson’s good
friend and Santa Lucia Plantation business manager, fired cannon
when John Anderson arrived at the hotel at the beginning of the
winter season.

It took an enormous staff to attend to the hundreds of guests that
would eventually holiday each winter at the Hotel Ormond. In its
heyday over 100 waitresses served guests in the huge dining room
and a large staff of waiters and busboys were on duty also. Each
day’s menu was certainly a full featured culinary delight and guests
were enchanted with the pictures of local attractions and timely
pictures of hotel properties available in the summer months in the
White Mountains of New Hampshire. These eloquently displayed
properties were managed by Anderson and Price. The waiters were
recruited for the local Hotel Ormond baseball team and competed
