A quaint, horse-drawn trolley car brought guests from the Ormond
railroad station to the hotel in the early days, and it has been said
that if the driver fell asleep, the horse would automatically stop when
it saw someone waiting to be picked up.

Many activities were available to hotel guests including the carriage
rides in and around the Ormond scenic drives. Pulled by four horses,
the carriage would accommodate up to 10 passengers and a
knowledgeable driver and would transport guests on many different
excursions throughout the area. As early scenic roads were developed
by John Anderson, guests were able to visit former plantations and
many picturesque sites along the river’s edge. Beach activities were
also very popular and beach picnics were high on the excursion
popularity list. On any given day a 10 minute stroll to the beach was a
pleasant excursion.
