Anderson focused on developing agriculture which included oranges,
lemons, and grape fruit.
As the Santa Lucia Plantation grew from a small cabin in the woods to
a thriving orange grove and tourist plantation, early settler Billy Fagan
became good friends with John Anderson and was soon employed at
the plantation. With activities increasing each year, it became
necessary to have Billy Fagan take on more-and-more management
responsibilities first, while John was up north during the summer
months and secondly, as a full time property supervisor for year-
around management. As was customary for John Anderson, people
close to him became family and Billy became known as John’s half-
brother. There has always been local confusion regarding the spelling
of Billy Fagan and I submit the following letterhead to clarify usage in
this publication.
Billy and his family could be seen in and around the Santa Lucia
Plantation riding in their 4-in-hand wagon as they took care of
plantation business and made frequent trips across the Granada
