                        Portland, Maine Memorial
A memorial was erected to Samuel Jameson Anderson of Portland
(1824-1905), John F. Anderson (1823-1887), and John Anderson
(1853-1911). Samuel Anderson was president of the Portland and
Ogdensburg Railroad and John F. Anderson was its chief engineer.
Samuel J. Anderson was a general in the Maine State Militia. The
younger John Anderson was Samuel's son and is cited for being "a
lover of these mountains and active in the development of this
region." The memorial calls the three "Men of firm integrity and
purpose, loyal to their ideal and friendships."
