Ormond War Memorial Art Gallery

Spirit is Life’s Only Significant Reality

Paintings numbered 57, 58, 59, 60 and 61 were presented to the
Memorial Gallery on January 28, 1962, by Mrs. Mary Aldrich Fraser in a
very impressive service of Presentation, Acceptance and Dedication. Like
all gardens, this Ormond War Memorial Garden will grow and grow and
grow in loveliness and popularity. Its peace fill atmosphere provides a
source of inspiration and rest. The south half of this four acre tract which
comprises the Memorial Garden was given to the City of Ormond Beach
by Volusia County after the front half had been developed and was
intended to become a part of the Memorial Garden. This was the first
War Memorial completed in Florida after World War II.

A booklet was prepared soon after the 5 additional Malcolm Fraser
paintings were donated by Mary Fraser and hung in the gallery. This
booklet served as a guide throughout the galleries and brought you live
thoughts and feelings of Malcolm Fraser as he painted these inspirational
works over several decades.

This booklet now contains the original 56 paintings (images) along with
the titles and symbolic descriptions provided by Malcolm Fraser for the
early booklet. The original booklet was used as a museum companion
piece containing only the numbered painting titles and descriptions and
was used as a tour guide to the original Malcolm Fraser paintings
permanently displayed in the Ormond War Memorial Art Gallery, as
dedicated in 1946. The actual painting images have now been added to
this booklet bringing the original painting collection and descriptions
together in one publication in honor of Malcolm Fraser, his wife Mary and
all those who have contributed to this monumental memorial through the
years.
