Ormond Beach, Florida
Fortunately, Don’s mother had a dear friend, Dr. Frances
W. Harris, an Osteopath with an international reputation
for her advanced work in osteopathy. Dr Harris was able
to treat Mrs. Bostrom and normalize the condition
allowing a somewhat normal birth. The Lord, family,
business acquaintances and his friends have looked after
Don through his many years.. I met Don Bostrom a few
years ago and marveled at his dedication to his cause, the
Ormond Beach Historical Trust.

The Trust objective is to preserve and protect the
historical, cultural and natural resources of the Ormond
Beach area and to promote the development and use of
these resources through a program of public education for
the benefit and improvement of the community. In a
nutshell, that’s Don Bostrom.
Don spent hundreds and hundreds of hours working on
many projects, one of which is the Wall of History,
presented and preserved in this publication. Thanks Don,
Historian Emeritus…

                  Acknowledgements

Foremost, let me thank my wife Alice Howell, who
has supported and encouraged me throughout our 28-
years together in marriage and most importantly – in
friendship. Alice, my best friend, has opened her heart
and her mind to this project and helped fill in the gaps
when I seemingly run out of answers.

Mr. J. Donald Bostrom has devoted many years to the
preservation of Ormond Beach history and the
advancement of education to young and old alike as he
earned the prestigious “Historian Emeritus” title. Don,
burned many late night and early-morning candles
