Abraham2 Anderson was a man of great energy and influence in the
development of the new town. The records, both of the church and
the town, show that he was foremost in all movements for the good of
his townspeople. After the incorporation of the town, he was the first
Representative to the General Court in 1767 and 1768. He died in
1769, leaving the homestead to his youngest son Abraham3, who
possessed much of the energy and ability of his father. Abraham3
Anderson was the youngest of three children born to Abraham2
Anderson and Ann Collins Cloutman June 18, 1758. Abraham3
Anderson was born in the Old Province Fort and lived until 1844. His
thrift and prudence through a long life added much to the family
prosperity and honor. He married Lucy Smith, daughter of Reverend
Peter Thatcher Smith, and granddaughter of Reverend Thomas Smith,
the first minister of Falmouth, now Portland, Maine. Abraham3
Anderson and Lucy had seven children. The Honorable John4
Anderson, the third son of Abraham3 and Lucy, was born July 29,
