friend of many of the prominent people in this section of Florida. His
many friends included Henry Morrison Flagler, James Ormond III, John
Anderson and Joseph Price.
John Andrew Bostrom married Miss Mary Fitch Baker in 1875. Miss
Mary was born in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1838, and served as a
teacher in Massachusetts before moving to Hilton Head, NC during
the Civil War. John Andrew Bostrom and Miss Mary met in Hilton
Head during the Civil War while she was employed at the local library.
After more than a decade of courtship, they married and Mary
became instrumental in making Bosarve one of the best boarding
houses in the area. Two children resulted in this marriage, Lars
Edward and Helen Esther.
Bosarve Was Demolished in 1967. A Bosarve Historic Marker is
Located at 195 Riverside Drive.
