The old original ballroom became a two-story, frame, yellow-painted
building trimmed with white (the same colors as the hotel). Hotel
guests, local citizens, and hotel employees attended the silent movies
shown there to the accompaniment of piano music.
In the 1920's the second floor of the building was the employee's
recreation room (for dancing and movies).
The original Hotel Ormond main entrance faced west towards the
Halifax River when constructed in 1887. When the new west wing
(Rockefeller Wing) was added in the early 1900’s the main entrance
was relocated and faced Granada (south) Blvd. Construction
materials and design concepts were upgraded when Mr. Flagler took
ownership, as seen from the main staircase view shown below.
